History of Bangalore:

Bangalore’s other name as Bengaluru. According to state historians, Bangalore got its name from Bendakalooru (the town of boiled beans).  In the late fourteenth century a king strayed into the area during a hunting trip and a woman offered him a meal of boiled beans which the king enjoyed so much,  that he named the town after the dish.  According to state historians, Bengaluru is a transliteration of the original spelling.  Today Bangalore is getting popular for a different variety of Beans variety of Beans-JavaBeans.

The Bangalore Palace and Fort:

The fort was built by Kempe Gowda and later expanded by Tippu Sultan.  Within its walls is the well preserved Ganapathi temple of sixteenth century.

The Palace was built in 1887 by Wodeyar king on the four hundred acre space.  This palace was built in the Tudor style, complete with Gothic, foiled windows, battlements and a turret resembling the Daria Daulat Palace in Srirangapatanam, this  palace is  constructed mostly of wood and is famous for its carving and paintings.

In the year June 2005 , Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wodeyar decided to open the palace to the public to meet its twenty lakh annual upkeep costs.  The main attractions are the  gallery which consists of nearly  thousand historical photos, including of Maharajas, Viceroys and other famous personalities inside and exquisite carvings and paintings.

The Bangalore race course

This race course is one of the finest in India, with racing events almost all year round (i.e. May to June and November to March).  Some of the biggest field stakes in the country can be viewed here.

Tipu’s Palace

Tipu’s Palace built in 1791.  This beautiful palace with two-storeyed ornate wooden structure with exquisitely carved pillars, arches and balconies was one of Tipu’s favorite summer retreats.

Lal Bagh

This is famous botanical garden in India. This garden was founded by the ruler of Mysore ,Hyder Ali.

It has a famous Glass house which organizes a flower show every year. This is one of the best tourist destination in Bangalore.

Bangalore is well connected by air, rail and road to all the major cities.  The cities such as Delhi, Madras, Mumbai, Calcutta and to most other important cities and towns.

By Train: There are regular train services from Chennai (Four trains per day), Mysore (Seven trains per day), Calcutta (Weekly twice), New Delhi (one service daily).

By Air: Bangalore airport has got services for both domestic and international flights.
