The most Beautiful Beaches in Sicily

Planning a summer vacation to Sicily? Good choice, because this island has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. When you’re planning your holiday in Sicily, renting a villa is the perfect way to enjoy the local atmosphere. At wishsicily.com, for example, you can browse many homes and villas in Sicily, check their facilities and find the most suitable place for you, where you are a couple, family, or group of friends. Once you have your accommodations figured out, it’s time to hit the beach! Here are the top 5 most beautiful beaches in Sicily: Mondello Beach Mondello Beach is a gorgeous crescent bay with white sandy shores and shallow water. There is an atmosphere of carnival in the air, making this beach the “people’s beach” of the province of Palermo. It is great for families and also has an Art Nouveau bathhouse. It is a great place for both snorkeling and windsurfing. There is also a beach club on the pier that was built in 1913 in the middle of the bay. You can get there by car, or take a 15-minute bus from the center of the city. Cefalù If you’ve seen Giuseppe Tornatore’s Nuovo Cinema Paradiso, you are familiar with the quaint fishing village of Cefalù. While the village is still a working fishing village, in the summer it experiences an influx of tourists seeking gorgeous beaches and delicious fresh fish. The swimming and sunbathing part of the town is called the Lungomare G. Giardina. It boasts a small white sand area, but further to the west it widens out and fills up with sunseekers all summer long. Make sure to watch Nuovo Cinema Paradiso before you go!   Aeolian Islands Hop on a hydrofoil boat at Milazzo and jet off to the gorgeous Aeolian archipelago off the northeast coast of Sicily. Because they are a bit harder to get to, the Aeolians are less filled with foreign tourists and you can have a more authentic Sicilian experience. Each island is unique, from Salina (for nature lovers), to Panarea (for the party lovers), to Lipari (the biggest and most developed). All of the islands have clear turquoise water, fantastic swimming spots, and not too many traditional white sand beaches. When you go, make sure to rent a little motorboat and putter around at your own leisurely pace between the islands. Drop anchor and dive in whenever you want! Taormina The beach is easy to reach from the famous Sicilian hill town of Taormina. The beaches are narrow and have gravelly sand, but the surrounding forests, rocky cliffs, warm water and forests make up for the limited beach space. Definitely worth the trip down from Taormina! San Vito Lo Capo San Vito’s world famous beach is a kilometer long strip of fine white sand. You will never forget swimming in the turquoise waters under the shadow on Monte Monaco to the east. Organized boat tours to the Zingaro Nature Preserve are also a must-do.
