Other places that attract tourists are snake venom extracting center, art and sculpture school and a crocodile bank. This beach offers many breath-taking monuments with sculptural panels, Monolithic chariots, temples and caves. At the beach yo can take sun bath, relax and refresh yourself.
Best time to visit is October to March and one is advised to avoid visiting this place in the monsoon season.
Festivals:
There is a Mamallapuram one month dance festival which starts from January and ends in February. Dances from all over India are staged here including Kathakali (Kerala), Kuchipudi (Andhra Pradesh) and Bharatha Nat yam (Tamilnadu) as well as puppet shows, tribal dances and classical/traditional music.

Mahabalipuram is very easy to reach. Mahabalipuram is well connected with air, rail and road.
By Air : Chennai is the nearest airport. Chennai is connected with all the major cities in India through direct flights and is 58kms away and has an international and domestic terminal.
By Rail : The nearest railway is Chenglapattu, 29kms away and Chennai 58kms away which has got good connections to all major rail junctions in India.
By Road: Mahabalipuram is connected by road to important cities in Tamilnadu. You can even hire a taxi to from Chennai to Mahabalipuram.
